Divination, according to the Oxford English Dictionary, is defined as : the practice of seeking knowledge of the future or the unknown by supernatural means. My experience with divination comes from over years of curious inquiry into the unknown and unseen. Working with the two forms of divination that I offer here, ( Yijing and Chinese Astrology), has been incredibly helpful at times when the causes or inner workings of things are for some reason hidden or obfuscated. Divination can help you find inner clarity around situations that have become confusing. In a sentence, it gives you perspective. Please continue reading for more information on the divination services I offer.

YiJing (Yi Ching or I Ching) Divination

The Yijing, or “Change Classic” (as it is literally translated) is a system of ancient Chinese divination and cosmology that has been in use for over 2500 years. Based on images of patterns in nature, the Yijing speaks to us by painting a picture of our situation at a particular crossroads of space and time. The oracle is often called upon by people when they are to making important decisions , however it is equally if not more useful as a kind of window through which we can view our current situation through a more universal lens. Sometimes when consulting the Yijing, an appropriate question could simply be WHAT TIME IS IT?”

I have been working with the Yijing for over 20 years. The oracle drew me in as a teenager, and since then I have actively pursued a relationship with it as a means of understanding phenomena in the universe, both large (global) and small (personal). I have studied Yijing divination science with teachers in the US and abroad. my primary teachers are Master Peng Laoshi of Taipei, Taiwan, and Master Zhongxian Wu who currently resides in Sweden, but teaches internationally.

I have done extensive writing on the Yijing, and have taught workshops on Yijing Cosmology and have offered divination services for many years as part of my acupuncture practice. Often an Yijing divination session may illuminate aspects of a situation that might otherwise remain hidden.

There are many ways to approach working with Yijing divination. My main focus has been on numerological divination methods, as taught by Master Wu, as well as the classical Yarrow stalk divination method, and the more popular and quicker “3 coin toss” method. In my readings, depending on the time and how in depth a reading my clients desire, I may use one or more methods described above to access and speak with the oracle.

Chinese Astrology

Chinese Astrology is an ancient science based on the cycles of time and the five elements. Many people are familiar with the “restaurant placemat” Chinese Astrology, where you can look up your year of birth and determine what your Chinese Animal sign is. There is much more to a Chinese horoscope than that.

A Chinese Astrological chart is a map through which many aspects of a person’s life may be read. It tells a comprehensive story, containing information about past, present and future, as well as a person’s health both emotionally and physically. Getting a chart read will enhance your understanding of deeper underlying patterns in your life as well as how the cycles of the seasons effect you.

For this service, you provide your birth date, time and place. After a two week calculation and analyzation period, I will meet with you (either in person in my Portland, Oregon office or online via Skype or FaceTime) for a 60 minute consultation. During your consultation, I will give you a summary of my findings and you may ask any questions pertaining to your chart. Your chart analysis may include Feng Shui advice that is customized just for you based on your chart. I have been studying Chinese 4 Pillar Astrology and Feng Shui with Master Zhongxian Wu of China since 2003 and has also studied with Richard Ashworth of the UK, and Master Peng (Laoshi) of Taipei, Taiwan.
