ARTISAN JEWELRY
Each Piece of jewelry I make is uniquely handcrafted, inspired by wonder at the beauty of the natural world. I begin my process by sitting with the particular materials I will be working with (ie silver, gemstones, etc) and I try to get a sense of how they “want” to be presented. Instead of imposing my will on a piece of silver or a rock, I prefer to be receptive and listen to the story that they might want to tell. I feel that it is this “listening process” that gives my work its uniquely beauty. Just as no two stones are ever precisely alike, no two pieces of jewelry I create that will be exactly the same as one another.
The work I create in silver is all hand-fabricated, and she approaches making pieces like a collage, so each piece: each ring, pendant, bracelet or earring typically contains many components which have been lovingly formed individually and then joined together by soldering or fusing. I do tons of stamping and texturing, using a patina finish to give my jewelry an antique and rustic look that sets it apart from many other artists work.
